Gazi

A warm weekday morning, I meet up with my creative director Cansel Ali as we sip on a tasty white mocha at starbucks in Bursa. We are introduced by the inseparable duo Gazi and Alper . This was, the first time everything kind of opened, right after the first lockdown — after the coronavirus pandemic all but shut down Turkey , after the Olympics were post-poned, after it was clear that nobody should be in a confined space with a crowd. We were all safe; following protocols and hungry to create some new work .

Amazed by Gazi's androgynous looks I wanted to accentuate it a bit more in this series of images through playing with different lighting techniques and keeping his wardrobe flowy but still structured. I was inspired by 1950's Marlon Brando as i dove into a fascination over his movies so i wanted to pay him a bit of homage in this photoshoot.

I also was inspired by the German artist; Caspar David Prieght 1818 paiting . When i was in Visual arts school i used to do analogies of his work and now i wanted to try out to replicate this medium . Trough photography this time around and the setting that we went to, permitted for this to happen .

Gazi was a real troop in being able to make this happen, this male model was able to bring my vision come to life; the mood was really fun throughout the day and to our luck the first magazine we pitched the offer to published the editorial right after 2 days. The world was truly hungry for an escape place. Look at the images below and tell me you also dont abducted by Gazi's gaze .
